After an absence of almost 3 years, the federal major tournaments (bringing together all the teams entered in the federal championship) are back. Here is a look at the first of this 2022 season, held in Lyon on 12 March.
14 teams were present on the pitches of the Gerland sports ground on that Saturday before St Patrick’s Day. After sometimes hard-fought pool stages (notably pool B, with its 5 teams), Lyon, Paris Blue and the 2 Bordeaux teams (A and B) made it to the semi-finals. After the hierarchy was respected, the leaders in the standings before the day began met for the tournament victory. In the end it was Paris who triumphed over Bordeaux by (2-5) 11-7 (1-4).
Paris therefore move into sole possession of the top of the standings, ahead of the 2nd and last major tournament, which will take place in Toulouse on 14 May.
