The Federation

Safeguarding in Gaelic sports

Playing in a safe, respectful and fair environment: a commitment made by the Federation and by each of its clubs.

A framework of trust

Our commitments

Set out in the Federation’s statutes, these principles apply to every club, coach, referee and member.

Child protection and respect for people

Respect for people and the protection of minors are among the Federation’s founding principles. It rejects all discrimination and guarantees freedom of conscience to its members.

Sporting ethics

The Federation upholds the code of sporting ethics set out by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, as well as respect for the rules of the game and for match officials.

Anti-doping

The Federation is committed to fighting doping and to promoting healthy, fair play.

Insurance for members

All licensed members are covered by a civil liability and personal accident insurance policy taken out by the Federation, with optional extra cover available.

Refereeing: rules applied by trained officials

Since 2011, a refereeing commission has brought together the refereeing leads at national and regional level. It provides a forum to discuss the rules and the practice of refereeing, and lets clubs share their needs throughout the season.

During a match, two linesmen and four umpires (goal judges) assist the referee; this role is filled by the clubs, with a rota drawn up for each tournament.

An accident, a concern, a report?

If an accident happens during play, your club and the Federation will help you make the claim with the insurer. For any question about insurance, or to raise a concern about someone’s safety or welfare, write to the Federation: your message will be handled discreetly.
