World champions 2026
French ladies team
One team. One identity. One ambition. World champions of ladies Gaelic football at the GAA World Games in Waterford.
The triumph
Amateurs on top of the world
The French ladies Gaelic football team won the world title at the GAA World Games in Waterford, Ireland. After losing a semi-final to Canada three years earlier, they beat San Francisco 23–7 in the final.
The victory rewards the journey of an entirely amateur squad, made up of players from clubs across France and abroad: teachers, a wine technician, a vet, an administrator, employees and entrepreneurs, who train after their working day and pay for part of their own travel.

Words from the champions
Winning this world title with this team fills me with immense pride. Our greatest strength is our collective: a united, calm group, mentally strong in the key moments.
— Fanny L., defender and captain
In 2023 we lost the semi-final of the same competition after a flawless run. We were determined to come back better prepared this year and to stand on the top step of the podium. And we did it!
— Margaux M., midfielder and vice-captain
