Camogie

The women’s version of hurling: same pitch, same spirit, and a community that is growing in France.

Introduction

Hurling for women

Camogie is the women’s version of hurling. It is played on a rectangular grass pitch, larger than a football or rugby pitch: 130 to 145 metres long and 80 to 90 metres wide. In continental Europe it is played on standard football or rugby pitches.

The goals are H-shaped, as in men’s and ladies Gaelic football. The equipment and the game are close to hurling: you will find the details of the pitch, equipment and rules on the hurling page.

Getting involved

Camogie in France

Some clubs, first and foremost Paris Gaels GAA, play camogie and take part in European tournaments; the Paris club won the European camogie championship in 2012. The Federation’s Steering Committee includes a camogie officer, Maud Pradella.

Come and help the Federation grow, and start a camogie team! For more information, please get in touch.
