Our federation

A federation that serves the game

Founded in October 2004 as the Association Française des Sports Gaéliques, the Gaelic Sports Federation of France exists to coordinate and develop Gaelic sports across the country.

It is a member of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), whose principles it follows, and of the European Federation of Gaelic Games (Gaelic Games Europe, GGE). Today it brings together 35 clubs spread across France and 1,600 licensed members.

Its main task is to coordinate the competitions held under its authority, and it also supports the growth of the sports, notably by funding projects run by leagues and clubs.

What we do

Our missions

Carried out by volunteer commissions, the Federation’s missions serve five main aims.

Promote and develop

Raising the profile of men’s and ladies Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and Gaelic handball, and supporting the creation of new clubs.

Training and nurturing young players

Growing participation among young people and running courses for coaches and educators.

Running the competitions

Coordinating the championships and making sure the rules of the game are respected, from regional leagues to the French Championship.

Upholding the rules

Making sure regulations and people are respected, through a disciplinary commission.

Growing the women’s game

Promoting ladies Gaelic football and camogie among women, through a dedicated commission.

Reaching out to students

Developing the game at university level, working with clubs and institutions.

An ethical framework

Our values

The Federation upholds the code of sporting ethics set out by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee.
